HAMLET OF CASTEL DI FIORI: A PLUNGE INTO THE UMBRIAN MIDDLE AGES
In the characteristic village of Castel dei Fiori, a hamlet of Montegabbione, in the province of Terni, stands the complex for sale, consisting of a building, with an adjoining park, and the ruins of the ancient Castle, with its own private courtyard and a garden.
A city wall still surrounds the small village, inhabited since ancient times, surrounded by the woods of the Umbrian hills, in which stands out what remains of the former Castle, of which there is certain news from 1300, and above all of its tower, dating back to around 1220.

The building, which has access from the central square of the village, is a building with stone cladding that is spread over three floors above ground and a part in the basement, for a total of about 1000 commercial square meters, while in the back there is the large park, of about 3338 square meters, arranged on several degrading levels and dotted with various tall trees and various essences and from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of Montegabbione, particularly suggestive at sunset.
The history of the building, as well as that of the castle, is linked to the historical events of the village, which came under the domination and protection of various noble Umbrian families, undergoing attacks, fires and major restoration works, until it became part of the Papal State in the 16th century.
The ground floor is mostly occupied by the living area, hosting a large living room with a stone fireplace, from which you can access a large dining room, with a quadruple view of the garden, a study and the large kitchen with dinette. Going up a few steps you reach a spacious bedroom, also with a fireplace, and two other bedrooms, with a bathroom. At the south-west end, there is the small private chapel, with frescoes on the walls. All the rooms are characterized by high ceilings with exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors, brick arches, creating an atmosphere with an ancient flavor with a sense of intimacy and warmth. The first floor houses two large living rooms, one of which is called the “blue room” because of the blue painted walls, with frescoed ceilings and a fireplace, as well as 5 bedrooms and two bathrooms.
On the second floor there are nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
Of the ancient castle today remains, in addition to a tower and a pointed arch door, only a few sections of walls, but full of charm and history. The building, together with the former castle, represent a very interesting investment opportunity also in view of a possible redevelopment for tourist-receptive use, equipped with wellness, recreational and sports facilities. The village hosts various cultural initiatives during the year, festivals, markets and concerts that attract numerous visitors even from abroad, as well as being inserted in a context of particular beauty, such as the nearby waterfalls and natural pools a stone’s throw from the inhabited center
